IT’S amazing what one horse race can do to someone’s life.
We saw it last year when jockey Michelle Payne became an overnight hero after she won the Melbourne Cup and again this month with rookie trainer Sally Taylor.
Sure, Taylor’s triumph might not have been on the same scale as Payne’s but Rednav’s victory in this month’s Listed Grafton Cup has also changed her life.
The 23-year-old was selling phones for a living at Leading Edge Telecoms in Coffs Harbour before the shop owner Peter Wood convinced Taylor to take out a trainer’s licence and train his horses in February.
Five months later and Taylor is now having to turn horses away, such is her growing popularity.
